# Vernia > Vernia is a native parametric mechanical CAD application for Windows: 3D parts, manufacturing (shop) drawings, sheet metal with flat patterns, and assemblies with a bill of materials, in one application and one document format. Built by a practising mechanical designer in Croatia. Development alpha (September 2026), early access by request. Website: https://vernia.dev/ (Croatian and English) Contact: info@simp-li.com, Atila Vadoci, +385 95 399 6265 Category: mechanical CAD, parametric 3D modelling, sheet metal, technical drawings, assembly design Platform: Windows 10 / 11, 64-bit. macOS planned. Status: alpha in daily use on real parts; not yet for sale. Early-access testers welcome. ## What Vernia does - 3D Part: 2D sketch with constraints and dimensions; Extrude, Revolve, Hole, Fillet, Chamfer, Shell, rectangular and circular Pattern, Mirror; work planes (13 methods); multiple bodies per part; parts catalog (12 standard parts, 3 fasteners); units mm / cm / in. - 2D Drawing: base view, projections, section and detail views; dimensions; center marks; hole table; surface roughness (ISO 1302); GD&T feature control frames and datums (ISO 1101); leader callouts; ISO title block with general tolerances (ISO 2768-mK); first-angle projection (ISO 128); sheet sizes A4 to A0; PDF and DXF export. - Sheet Metal: Face, Flange, Contour Flange, automatic corner relief, K-factor 0.44 (ANSI) per document, Flat Pattern as an editable part, bend lines, DXF export for laser or plasma cutting. - Assembly: place components (first one grounded), Mate / Flush / Concentric constraints with offset, joints (Ball, Rotational, Rigid, Slider), STEP insert of purchased parts, bill of materials, assembly drawing with a parts list, degrees-of-freedom status. ## Technology - Native C++ application, no web wrapper, no subscription cloud. - Geometry kernel: Open CASCADE (exact B-Rep, not mesh). Solver: Ceres (same solver for 2D sketches and 6-DoF assemblies). - Document formats: .scd (part) and .scda (assembly), readable text with semantic features, suitable for git. - Import: STEP (AP203/214), FreeCAD .FCStd. Export: PDF, DXF. - Work safety: atomic save with .bak, prompt on close, Save All on exit. - 329 automated tests (workflows, measured geometry volumes, golden UI images). ## Who it is for Mechanical designers, small workshops and sheet metal shops, and junior engineers or technicians who need a familiar parametric workflow (sketch, feature, drawing) with standards-based defaults already filled in. ## Not yet available (in progress) Sweep, Loft, Hem, Punch tools; balloons on assembly drawings; isometric view on the sheet; Angle and Insert constraints; IGES import; recipes (parametric templates); assembly instructions from the BOM; mechanical calculations tab; 3D-print support; macOS build; public beta. ## Pages - [Home](https://vernia.dev/): product overview, real screenshots of the workflows, capabilities, technology, roadmap, early access.
